HON. OYEKANMI G. GBOYEGA
Oyekanmi G. Gboyega (LLB.(Hons), BL, LLM) started his professional career in the Legal Unit of Elf Nigeria Limited, Port Harcourt, Rivers State as a Youth Corper between 1985 and 1986. He briefly practiced in a private Law Firm located at 194/196 old ojo Road, Agboju Amuwo, Lagos.
He thereafter secured an employment with the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) as a State Counsel in the Chambers of the Hon. Attorney-General of the Federation & Minister of Justice (Federal Ministry of Justice) in January 1987.
He served in the Departments of Civil Litigation & Legal Drafting within the Ministry and in other Ministries and Agencies including National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Presidential Task Force on Financial Crimes, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) and Federal Ministry of Water Resources. He participated in a workshop on Drafting of International Contracts and Investment Legislation held in Abeokuta in 1988 for two and a half weeks.
He also served as Members/ Chairman of various Committees such as Special Task Force that assisted the Law Revision Committee which reviewed and produced the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria in 1990 after a long gap of the thirty-two (32) years.
As a member of the defunct Presidential Task Force On Financial Crimes which metamorphosed into Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Oyekanmi participated in the investigation and prosecution of matters relating to financial crimes such as bank fraud, fraudulent and unfair trade practices relating to securities industry.
Mr Oyekanmi, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, served on the Board of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) from 2018 until his retirement from service on attaining the mandatory age of 60 years in May, 2020. He attended various Local and International Conferences in Rivers State, Ogun State, Kaduna State, Plateau State, Abuja-FCT, UAE, UK, USA, China, India, Sweden, Astana-Kazakhstan amongst others. He is happily married with children. Mr Oyekanmi was appointed Honourable part-time Member of the Investments & Securities Tribunal in August 2021.
